Flight time, and researching Shamanism

I am reading a book on shamanism and this idea just intrigues me. Shamanism is a journey into transcendence.
The idea of exploring past the physical plane (no pun intended) and seeing past that which is everyday.

This page caught me, as I am regularly baffled by the people around me and their inability to see past societal norms and things "we should/have" to do.

We don't have to be tired because we sleep poorly. Let's say for a minute that, the two are completely separate and you can sleep poorly and still feel energetic.

We have been told from a young age that if we do not "sleep" we will than feel "tired". Do we have to believe this to be true? Could we not simply gain energy from the people around us? The world beneath us?

Shaking off these beliefs fed to us as truth, and the world is a much more interesting, liberated place.

In this book,

"The World of Shamanism" by Roger Walsh from Timberland Regional Library. Find this & more at https://www.overdrive.com/search?q=The+World+of+Shamanism.

The author likens shamans and shamanism to a hero, and the journey from regular Joe to hero through specific stages.

Stage one being

" the conventional life"
