Day 3 Voodoo fest 2/3

Image
This was our fullest day. We began it with The Pretty Reckless, starting at 1:30,  Yes, That IS Taylor Momsen.  via GIPHY The show was good, but you could tell the energy of the crowd and the performers ( Taylor Momsen) was impacted by the heat of the baking sun. They played old favorites such as " You make me wanna die " and new stuff  like " Take me down" After we headed over to the Toyota Tent for some more Reignwolf.   The man can rock. I can't get enough of him.   Shakey Graves came and set up riht after Reignwolf , so we stayed and listened.  Shakey Graves is a lot of fun. A one man band, with southern country flair.  Here is some of his stuff. We ended the evening at the Italian Pie, and ate to our little hearts content.  Salad, Chicken Parmesan, and Calzone. Finally, we headed to the quarter  and "Maskarade"  (http://ww

Day 2 Voodoo Fest 1/3

Image
Well rested and up before me, Josh snuck out of our cozy Air Bnb for some Panera and local coffee . My vanilla breve with half the vanilla hit the spot with my breakfast power sandwich . After eating, we debated our plan of action, and headed over to voodoo fest to get arm bands and wander the scene. Lines were short to get our already purchased tickets, and after we headed over to get in. People in line to get into Voodoo fest act like all animals caged. Passive aggressive and agitated.Once we were in, the place was desolate. We wandered, picked up freebies, a drink from pepsi (who had an amazing old time 1893 set up) and got our bearings. We also purchased merch, and listened to a few of the first bands.  We left at 2 and hit a local burger joint, which was good, but Un- inspired.  Shopped for new shoes, as I had developed blisters, and headed"home".For a few hours before

Day 0-Travel

The morning of our New Orleans trip, neither of us slept terribly well. Tossing and turning over the details, and uncontrolled factors such as security and traffic, played a part for me. Waking up at 4am, we both turned around in bed and looked at each other, eyes a bit wide and quickly decided, we might as well get up. Thank goodness we did, as traffic between our home and the airport was especially bad. Rain, congestion and collisions, all did their part to slow us down. Our poor sleep ended up being a boon from the universe and we were very much on time to get through security. Security took about 20 minutes and yes, I was pulled aside for accessories in my bag. The poor man said it might be a curling iron.......eyes downcast. I laughed and responded "It probably isn't he lightened up a little but was quick in his actions. Opening the bag, wiping the inside and quickly closing it. The tag he wiped my bag with was inserted into a little machine and showed him some informatio

5 things you can do for a flawless vacation

Vacations are meant to be fun, but vacation prep can easily cause anxiety. Take care of your mental health, and prepare for success! When preparing for a vacation, one must take into consideration, what they are going to do, and personal habits. Questions you may need to ask is "Do I need this?" When referring to bathroom gear, accessories, clothes and supplements. 1. Prioritize your To Do list.     We all can be overwhelmed by packing, prepping, buying tickets, managing rental cars and updating the house sitter. Making lists of what needs to be done (preferably a month ahead of time) helps you prioritize your money and what is left to get done. 2. Think about it in sections  The trip to your destination may include a plane flight, and that itself is an adventure. What ou wear on the plane and what you wear on your caving trip will be very different. If you are going to lay on a beach all day, you may only need very few items in your luggage, but don't forget you

Amping up for travels again

Image
The month of October, and we will be travelling again. Air BnB for the win!! via GIPHY  So  many things to go and see again. The feel of the city is something I  can't describe with words. Old and new, relaxed and exciting, visceral.  The food.......  Rocky and Carlos...... It's is all about the experience and people when we travel.

Friday morning Pax

Fyi, morning traffic, from Lacey to Seattle isn't bad if you leave at 8am.

Friday morning Pre-Coffee thoughts

I admit, life got busy and I stopped blogging, but I am back. Never fear. The months of Autumn are ramping up and I fe I am at my most creative at that time. Pax and Assemblage 23 concert soon, and of course every other piece of life. I am writing a new book, and will be sending off to a lit agent in the next few months. If I don't then my dreams never come to fruition. I'm not the type to dream and whine that it hasn't happened.

Freedom

New Actions free you from the past. Do it differently.  Create new patterns. Be a new you.

Ballet and life

Image
Sometimes we need to have things that make us feel good. Remember that. - The rose and the thorn, and sorrow and gladness are linked together.   Saadi I am 2 weeks back into ballet and it is amazing. I was a bit frustrated last week as my knee was really bugging me, (tendinitis/chondromalacia) but, ultimately I just started physical therapy again and I will prevail. Between that and learning handstands And working on splits and taking care of my mind with meditation.  I am a big proponent of meditation as it helps calm the mind and give space for your thoughts.  This week I focused on staying away from rumination of failure, and making a plan for success. When a goal is measurable, it does not feel so nebulous and intangible. Ever feel overwhelmed by the things you want and feel you will never get them?  If you have measurable daily goals, you will see your succeess and be motivated by the progress you CAN SEE EVERYDAY. .

New Year

I am not a fan of "New Years resolutions" , never have been. I believe that you can choose to  always be working on improving yourself. Pushing past fears and barriers. Dreaming bigger and bigger. Taking what you want.  So, that is what I do. Every day, every week. New goals, new achievements.  And a life that I absolutely love. I am finally happy. I found it. ( not that it is something you "find" per se) No. happiness is not a destination, or something you "look" for, it is a state of mind you must choose to be in.  We are all in control of our minds, and its the belief that are not, that is detrimental. "What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract.  What you imagine, you create. " -Buddha So, dream big, set your mind to it, and set small daily goals, and give yourself the time. YOU ARE WORTH IT. When we spend all our time being there for anyone else but us, it's a fundamental fear of not being " good enough"
