Day 0-Travel

The morning of our New Orleans trip, neither of us slept terribly well. Tossing and turning over the details, and uncontrolled factors such as security and traffic, played a part for me.

Waking up at 4am, we both turned around in bed and looked at each other, eyes a bit wide and quickly decided, we might as well get up.

Thank goodness we did, as traffic between our home and the airport was especially bad. Rain, congestion and collisions, all did their part to slow us down.

Our poor sleep ended up being a boon from the universe and we were very much on time to get through security.

Security took about 20 minutes and yes, I was pulled aside for accessories in my bag. The poor man said it might be a curling iron.......eyes downcast. I laughed and responded

"It probably isn't he lightened up a little but was quick in his actions. Opening the bag, wiping the inside and quickly closing it. The tag he wiped my bag with was inserted into a little machine and showed him some information indicating, I was not a threat.

Our gate was directly next to the security checkpoint, and we settled in. Bathroom breaks and stretching took up the next 30 minutes as we waited to board.

Our flight, was good, and quick, for the first part of our journey, where we discovered "Nourish snacks Berry'd treasure". Bite size granola balls of bliss and nutrition.

Our layover in L.A. was so uneventful our plan was late. Upon arrival,it had to wait for the gate to be cleared, which sat in front of it, and the whole process seemed screwy.

I always believed LA to be more of a type A sort of city, and the lackidasical manner in which plans were organized baffled me.

The people managing the terminal gate were offering 500 dollars in American cash card for people to switch flights. I wish we had taken it,and soon you will see why.

After finally getting on our plane, we were instructed that we would be further delayed as a repair needed to be done. 2 hours later, and thank goodness for free in flight movie selections (not that we were flying),we left. Behind 20 other planes because of airstrip congestion.

We landed at 8 instead of 6, and hoofed it to grab our bag. Bags in hand, we left, deciding on uber or taxi as we exited the airport to find a line of a out 45 people waiting for taxis.

We aren't a couple who likes to waste time, so we trekked to the local IHOP and requested an Uber, cutting our price in half. Who knew?

Upon arrival at the air bnb, we discovered our place of stay is a bright little studio apartment behind a gate, hugged in bamboo. It was cozy and the bed was warm.

Eager to explore, we changed, showered and left to get some food. I dug up Google maps and found Venizian to be a few blocks away and open till 10.

The food was good, and portions were large. I ate the spaghetti with meatballs, and he,the chicken parmesan. Although both were good, the meatballs were made with beef and veal, and I am not a fan of veal.

Next we hit the local grocery store,"Win Dixie" for some fruit and snacks.

That night, we slept very well.....
